What does the Career Development Centre do?
The Career Development Centre is a South Australia Works project providing a service to anyone in the community who needs support in thinking about what they want to do with their working life. We work with school leavers, the unemployed and people who are looking for extra work or to change jobs.
Our aim is to help individuals make informed choices about the next step they will take, whether it be for further education, training or work.
How can the Career Development Centre be of help?
We have Career Practitioners who listen to people and offer suggestions about the direction they can take in their working life.
We can help you set goals for your working life.
We sometimes use software to develop a report which helps people work out their skills and passions so that they can identify their work preferences.
We have information about courses provided by colleges, TAFE and Universities in each state.
We have information about employment trends and opportunities.
We have a listing of jobs currently advertised in the region, and information about casual jobs in the region.
We can refer you to other services, programs and organizations in the region.
We can give you information about traineeships and apprenticeships.
We can help with resumes and cover letters.
We have a list of useful web sites.
Is the Career Development Centre a Job Network?
We are not a Job Network. We will advise you that it is useful to be registered with a Job Network if you are seeking work, but our service is additional to the service you receive at a Job Network.
Is there a cost?
There is no cost to you. Because the Career Development Centre is a community service, we ask you to instead consider ways you can volunteer your services to the community – in that way you can return the service given you.
Where is the Career Development Centre?
The Career Development Centre is at 15b James Street Mount Gambier.
